Have you heard the news about Colgate Total Toothpaste??
The FDA and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is currently reviewing the safety of the chemical triclosan--found in hundreds of over the counter products, inlcluding Colgate Total Toothpaste. This added ingredient may be toxic to the endocrine/hormonal systems and the FDA made a statement that "existing data raise valid concerns about the [health] effects of repetative daily human exposure to these antiseptic ingredients". Triclosan is added to products as an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and to prevent odors. In addition to toothpaste, this chemical can be found in many soaps, hand washes, shaving gels, kitchenware, clothes and toys. Triclosan is already banned or restricted in several countries, including the European Union, which recently stopped the use of this chemical in products. You can empower yourself by checking the website of U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services 'Household Products Database' for a full list of products that contain triclosan. Additionally, please check the list of ingredients on your products at home in order to avoid this potential danger to yourself and your family.
