How we can Help?

Cosmetic Dentistry - Rejuvenating Your Smile

Even the loss of one tooth can result in the tipping, drifting and erupting of neighboring and opposing teeth. The loss of several teeth can result in the inability to chew and speak effectively. It can also lead to the collapse of your bite causing stress on your jaw joints, facial muscles and a reduction in the vertical dimension of your face. This can create an older facial appearance with noticeable facial lines.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant consists of a titanium root that is fitted into a socket that we create in your jaw to replace the loss of your natural tooth.A support tooth will be placed into the implant and a new crown is placed on top of it. Implants are frequently an excellent option to replace a tooth or multiple teeth that were lost due to a variety of reasons.Dental implants are made of titanium and take advantage of a biological phenomena called osseointegration. Osseointegration allows bone to heal up against the titanium implant surface and anchor the dental implant firmly into the bone allowing a crown(cap) to be placed on top of the implant thereby replacing the lost or missing tooth.

Removable Dental Prosthesis

If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth and live in Boston – Charlestown – Chelsea or East Boston, MA, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures from Lewis Wharf Dental dentists can replace your missing teeth and your smile.
Replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. Without support from the denture, facial muscles sag, making a person look older. You’ll be able to eat and speak—things that people often take for granted until their natural teeth are lost.

GUM Recession - What you Need to Know

Gingival recession, also known as receding gums, is a periodontal condition that results in the exposure of the roots of the teeth caused by a loss of gum tissue and or retraction of the gum tissue around the crown of the teeth. Gum recession is a common problem in adults over the age of 40, but it may also occur starting from the age of a teenager, or around the age of 10. If you have been told you have gum recession, you’re not alone. An estimated 50% of American adults currently have some form of the condition whose signs and symptoms include:

  • Cold sensivity around a tooth or teeth

  • Root exposure of the underlying tooth

  • Red or swollen gum margins

  • Tender or bleeding gums

  • Pain when consuming acidic foods or drinks (Citrus, Soda)

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal treatment, also called endodontic treatment is a well established and widely used procedure to preserve ones natural tooth and restore it to function. It becomes necessary when the nerve inside the tooth is infected or inflamed, or when there is not enough tooth structure remaining to rebuild the tooth with a filling or crown.
